Sample Answer:-

The chart compares population shares in various regions of the world with the distribution of wealth in these same regions. It can be seen that population shares in almost all cases do not relate to the distribution of wealth.

Even though North America has only approximately 6% of the world’s population, it boasts nearly 34% of global wealth. A similar situation can be seen in Europe, which has 15% of the global population but 30% of global wealth, and the rich (high income) Asia-Pacific countries with 5% of the world’s population but 24% of its wealth.

On the other hand, the total wealth people in China, India Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the other poor (lower income) countries in Asia-Pacific is far less than their shares of the world population. This is most striking in India, where 16% of the world’s population own only 1% of the world’s wealth and in China which has the highest percentage of global population (24%) but only 3% of the world’s wealth.

WRITING TASK 2 (AC+GT)

Recent figures show an increase in violent crime among youngsters under the age of 18. Some psychologists claim that the basic reason for this is that children these days are not getting the social and emotional learning they need from parents and teachers.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Sample Answer:-

It does seem to be true that parents and teachers have lost the authority they used to have, especially in the eyes of teenagers. They are no longer seen as models for behavior: hard work, politeness and other positive qualities are seen as old-fashioned. Many young people have no respect for these qualities or the people who represent them. In fact, I think some young people today are so rebellious that it’s possible that both parents and teachers are afraid to exercise their authority. However, I do not agree that this is the basic reason for the increase in teenage violence.

While believe it is true that a lack of social and emotional learning contributes to the problem, other factors are surely involved: economic factors, for example. If a child comes from a poor family and they live in low-quality housing in an undesirable area, this is sure to affect the child, however loving the parents are.

There is also the question of who your friends are. I believe that when you are in your teens your friends have more influence on you that your friends have more influence on you than your parents or teachers. At that age, you want to be part of a group, or even a gang, and this might lead to breaking the law in a number of ways.

In conclusion, while I agree that lack of social and emotional learning from parents and teachers is a factor in the growth of teenage violence, I do not believe it is only, or even the main, cause.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Speak about your favourite motorbike.

You should say

– The name of the bike

– When and where you saw it for the first time

– What it looks like

– Why is that bike your favourite

Sample Answer:-

My favourite bike is the Harley Davidson Iron 833. I first saw this bike at a road show in my city during its launch campaign, some time back. Later, I looked it up online and realized that as opposed to the Street 750 model from Harley that is made in India, the Iron 833 is more authentically American. This bike has some stunningly attractive features. It is cruiser with a low ride silhouette, high mounted circular headlights and striking orange indicators. These features give the bike a striking front-view. Its back rear view mirrors and engine, and chrome-edged alloy wheels add to its classic Harley appeal.

While this bike originally has a single-seat, the company offers to fit a pillion seat if required. The most outstanding feature of this bike is its strong and masculine frame and the shape of its body. Because of its classic, masculine appearance, it garners second looks from all those who don’t own it. This bike is designed to appeal to men who are trendy and young. It has achieved tremendous success in wooing the youth of my country.

It is a masterpiece in the two-wheeler category. A close friend of mine bought this bike at the time of its launch and gave me a test ride. I was amazed by its sheer power, and the growl of its engine. I immediately wanted to acquire this 883 cc beauty! While all its colours are wonderful, its Charcoal Denim shade is just out of the world!

Moreover, bikes don’t have storage cabinets like most scooters do.
