Listening Vocabulary – Part 3

Accommodation – a place to live, work, stay, etc. in.

Sentence – There are three categories of accommodation – standard, executive and deluxe.

Homestay – a type of holiday or visit in which you stay in the home of a person you do not know.

Primary – of or for the teaching of young children, especially those between five and eleven years old.

Feedback – information or statements of opinion about something, such as a new product, that can tell you if it is successful or liked.

Tasks – a piece of work to be done, especially one done regularly, unwillingly, or with difficulty.

Outcome – a result or effect of an action, situation, etc.

Sentence – The outcome depends on conditions as well as how events unfold.

Advanced – highly developed or difficult.

Sentence – I was out of my depth in the advanced class, so I moved to the intermediate class.

Introductory – coming before something else.

Sentence – They volunteer to teach introductory courses.

Resources Room – Resource room is a separate setting, either a classroom or a smaller designated room, where a special education program can be delivered to a student with a disability, individually or in a small group.

Sentence – There is a state of art Resources Room in our university.

Staff – the group of people who work for an organization.

Sentence – New staff are trained to work without direct supervision.

Higher Education – education at a college or university where subjects are studied at an advanced level.

Sentence – Some believe that the extension of higher education has leveled down university standards.

Guidelines – information intended to advise people on how something should be done or what something should be.

Sentence – The government has drawn up guidelines on the treatment of the mentally ill.

Post-Secondary – the education level that follows the successful completion of secondary education, often referred to as high school.

Sentence – Students who complete a post-secondary degree in a health-care field receive priority hiring when they graduate.

Faculty – a group of departments in a college that specialize in a particular subject or group of subjects.
