Students please avoid worrying as speaking test is not that much tough as much is perceived. If you want to score 9 bands in IELTS speaking test, follow the below mentioned tips –

1. Work on your pronunciation

If you are really willing to score band 7 or more, pronunciation can help you doing that. While taking a professional trainer’s help can really enable you to improve your pronunciation as the person can correct you easily and after listening the exact pronunciation from him/her, you can learn to pronounce it. Undoubtedly, it’s not that quick to grasp, so fixing this issue is going to take time.

Also, leaving your original accent can be a real challenge for you but accent is not that important to change. Just pronouncing words clearly is enough to boost your score. Moreover, to improve this you can try an application known as “text to speech”, here whatever a student types, he can hear it by just clicking on say it option. You can practice by reading aloud a passage with some unfamiliar terms.

2. Give relevant ideas

 For jotting down ideas relevant to any question, you can use some expressions to increase your thinking time like, that’s a good question, let me think etc.

3. Avoid one line answers

Saying only yes or no is not enough, try to explain and justify your opinion with some appropriate examples

4. Use your own anecdote

To make a speaking effective and memorable, explain ideas with some personal examples.

5. Try to record yourself and listen to it

For being an effective speaker, use anything like computer, tape recorder, mp3 player etc. There are certain apps which help you record easily. If you are unable to find any, use default recording app of your mobile phone. Note down the wrongly pronounced words after listening to it.

6. Familiarize yourself with common topics

Usually the student is asked about daily life questions such as work, education etc. It’s better to go through with them at least once to jot down some ideas with relatable phrasal verbs and idiomatic expressions.

7. Listen to native speakers

Get the content of native speakers via radio, podcasts etcetera. After listening to them try to copy pronunciation.

8. In the very beginning of introduction, don’t exaggerate your answers much rather give answers as much are needed.

9. Try to use get acquaintance with the possible topics

Think of regular life situations and link it with yourself. Do strategic planning before speaking.

10. Be fluent and use vocabulary more

If you find it on band parameters, you will find that being fluent and using vocab hold the same band weightage.

11. Bring expressions in voice

Avoid speaking with monotone and be impressive by using expressions. Add tone to your speaking.

12. Use your one minute carefully

Dont waste time on thinking much and panicking that you have to speak after a minute. Be calm and think of a elaborative situation.

13. Think coherently

Link your content aptly and be logical while speaking. Using any phrase/connector anywhere is not going to help you, so use them appropriately.
