Some top IELTS Writing Tips

IELTS Writing is designed to judge the writing skill of the candidate. In the writing module there are two tasks. If you are an Academic student then in Task 1 you will get a report to write or if you are a General student than you will get a Letter word limit for both is minimum 150 words. In Task 2 you will have to write an essay on the given topic and it’s same for both Academic and General Students with the minimum word limit of 250 words. This module is considered to be the toughest and most of the candidates lose scores in this only because of lack of guidance and accurate tips so today in this article we will discuss some top IELTS writing tips to increase your scores.

1. Read the question carefully

We need to read the question carefully. So let’s do that know. IELTS writing task 2. You should spend 40 minutes on this. You should understand the meaning behind the question. What it is about and what you should explain to fulfill the demand of question.

2. Plan your essay

You need to plan you answer before to start. So, you can write quickly and get your desire band scores. Even, a fluent writer of English will have the difficulty to get a great mark without doing some planning. To plan the tasks firstly you need to paraphrase the question. It means to rewrite the question in your own language. This will help you generate vocabulary for the essay. Also it ensures that you understand the question correctly and help’s you to think deeply about the question allowing you to come up with some great ideas. There are many ways to paraphrase the question. Make sure that you have 60 to 70 percent replacements of the words.

3. Identify the topic

This is the skill you need to practice at home. For this you need to identify the topic first. It means, you should identifying what we are discussing, what we are writing about. Along with it, you must be identifying the controlling ideas. That means the ideas which are targeting. You need to think critically about the important information of the task.

4. Find your current level

Most people don’t know where to start. You need to start by finding your current level where are you at now. If your English is excellent that’s easy but if your current level is too low then you need to do lot of work.

For this, you need to take a timed IELTS test and you can find good quality from some books. Do lots of writing test at home before the exam.

5. Improve your grammar and vocabulary

These two things are the brick of the building of your writing. You can’t create a beautiful building unless you have a solid bricks in that. In the same way if you don’t have a good vocabulary then you will not able to write well. So learn more words and expand the vocabulary also you need good grammar which requires to connect the sentences.

6. Write formal language

It is require writing a formal essay. And it doesn’t matter whether you take IELTS academic or general training. Try to make sentence by using “also” then “too.” Moreover,

You need to avoid the usage of personal pronouns and contractions such as you, your ,ours, can’t, don’t shouldn’t, couldn’t etc. because in the writing task you are going to discuss about the whole world. So, to give the explanation of task you don’t have need to use the personal pronouns.
