Identifying accurate words is the most challenging work and here only most of the students face difficulty because they don’t know what will help them to get the right answer. So, today in this article we will discuss about how to tackle difficulties in IELTS reading.

The test is designed in such a way that the examiner can judge your understanding level of written English. To show your proficiency here are some tips which will help you in getting good scores-

Skimming

In IELTS Reading there are nearly 2500-3000 words and it is too hard for anyone to read and understand each and every word of the passage. To sort this problem the best technique which can be used is the Skimming. In this you just have to read the text in a smart way by which you can easily know the main idea of the passage instead of understanding it.

Focus on time

Reading test is a sort of race against time so you have to keep an eye on the watch and spend every single second very carefully. In Reading test you will have only an hour to find the answers of 40 questions. There are nearly 14 question types in IELTS Reading some are easy to locate but others are difficult and for each question you will have 90 seconds to locate and note the answer but the difficulty level increases with every passage and the third and last passage is quite tough to locate the answers. So to tackle this you need to divide your time in a proper way that you can finish your questions in time.

Spelling check

Copying the spellings wrong is also a problem which reduces the scores. Often, students do not pay attention to what they have written and they copy the wrong spellings. So to avoid this you should do a spell check makes sure that you have written the answers without any spelling errors.

Order of the questions

Answers of the questions are in the order which means you will get the answer of the third question after the second one you will not get the answer of third before second. For example, if you have got the answer for the question 3 in the third paragraph, then you really need to look for the answer for the fourth question in the third paragraph itself of the fourth paragraph.

Underlining the text (keywords)

While reading the passage you should underline the words which you think is more relevant or close to the answer to the given question. This exercise will help to save your time and you will not have to read the same text again and again.

Unfamiliar words

In the reading text you can come across many new words don’t get panic if you see any new word while reading the text. There is no need to understand the exact meaning of the word if it is important for your answer than just make an educated guess by looking at the sentence.

Don’t leave any question unanswered

As there is no negative marking in IELTS so you should not leave any question unanswered. If you don’t get the answer of any question just write the answer with a guess but don’t leave any space blank n the answer sheet. How know, your answer might go right!
