Tips to prepare IELTS exam in just 2 weeks

Due to the pandemic Covid-19 many countries had imposed traveling restrictions but now as the   things are getting normal the barrier of visiting other countries are uplifted and this is good news for the students who want to study abroad. The thing that has not been changed is IELTS as you have to clear the exam to get qualified in the university or collage of other nation. Now the students want to clear the IELTS exam as soon as possible and reach their destination. The question here is that how can an aspirant prepare for the test in a very short period so here are the tips to prepare IELTS exam in just 2 weeks.

– Listen the audio till it ends; look for the questions which are related to the part being played.

– In the given time between different sections you should prepare the next set of questions.

– Answer Listening questions in the order they appear on the Question Paper. Remember that they normally follow the order of the information in the recording.

– In listening test only, you will be given 10 minutes to transfer your answers to the answer sheets in this time you should transfer the answers and also check for grammar and spelling mistakes.

– In IELTS Reading, start by taking a quick glance through each passage to identify features like the topic, the style, the likely source, the writer’s purpose and the intended reader.

– During reading don’t try to understand the meaning of every word or phrase. As you will not have much time for this.

– Reading tasks sometimes have an example answer. If this is the case, study it and decide why it is correct.

– Check the instructions carefully to know what the question is asking for as some tasks demand you to use words from the text in the answer while in others you should use your own words.

– The instructions may also include a word limit, e.g. Use no more than two words. Stick to this and avoid unnecessary words in your answer.

– In writing module, you must always keep to the topic. Never try to prepare sections of text before the exam.

– Don’t take excess time than suggested i.e. 20 minutes for task 1 and 40 for task 2 as there are more marks possible for Task 2 than Task 1.

– Always try to connect sentences with connectors to make your content more impressive.

– You should organize and link your ideas and sentences appropriately, use a wide range of vocabulary and language to show your ability (in Task 2) to discuss ideas and express opinions.

– Don’t write less than 150 words in Task 1 and 250 words in Task 2 as if you write less than this you will lose marks, but there is no maximum number of words for either.

– While planning your essay, allow plenty of time at the end to check your work.

– In Speaking, don’t try to give a memorized speech, or talk about a topic which is not asked from you.

 – Always speak directly to the Examiner, and ignore the recording equipment.

– Whenever you reply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ to the Examiner’s questions, add more details to your answer. In each case, aim to explain at least one point.

– Remember that you are not being tested on your general knowledge but on your ability to communicate effectively.

– Organize and link your ideas and sentences appropriately, talking clearly at normal speed and using a wide range of structures and vocabulary.
