Many students find difficult to locate the answer in reading test and Sometimes a question may arise that is understanding every word in IELTS Reading necessary?

SKIMMING
Skimming refers to the process of reading the passage very quickly and taking an overview of it. But while doing skimming your attention and concentration should be on focusing only on the main ideas and you should waste your meaning time while skimming the passages.
SCANNING
Scanning refers to the process of finding specific information in the IELTS reading passages. The main point you need to be aware of is that you should know the answer that you are probably looking for.
You may have a question in your mind that why is it important to master these skills?
You may be aware that time management is the most difficult thing to do in IELTS EXAM. Due to which, it is obvious that you are not provided with sufficient time to read all the 3 passages completely. In IELTS reading test each every minute is crucial. And do not waste even a second out of it. You should efficiently use the time given to you.
SKIMMING READING TECHNIQUE IN DETAIL:

When doing scanning of passages, you should focus on keywords as they play a vital role while scanning the passages. You can find the paraphrased form in the reading text, after finding the keywords in the question.
Some ways to scan the reading passages are described below:
1. Always follow your pencil or finger when you are going through the lines while doing scanning.
2. You should underline or even circle the keywords in both, in question as well as in reading passage.
3. You should repeat the keyword in the question which you might be looking for.
