What do you do on the weekends?

My idea of weekends is to get away from the hustle-bustle of the city. I explore vintage cafes and unwind with a strong cup of coffee. It relaxes my mind and prepares me for the upcoming week.

Do you like to travel?

Yes! I do have a passion for travelling. As they say, “It is the journey that matters, not the destination.” I also believe that travel must be about experiences, journeys, and memories. Unfortunately, the fast life has taken a toll on me, and I have not visited as many places as I want to.

What kind of movies do you like?

I have a jolly time watching funny movies. I like the idea of laughing my heart out once in a while. It is like a break from a monotonous life. It is always my go-to choice whenever we visit the cinema.

Do you have any unhealthy habits?

Well, everyone is addicted to some habit which they try to change. And am one among them. My work priorities are such that I reach home around 8 pm. I feel lazy to cook, so I go to bed with an empty stomach or order a takeaway.

In what ways do you try to stay healthy?

I try to stay healthy by eating a well-balanced, low-fat diet with lots of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Thereafter, I workout for a minimum of 40 minutes and meditate for 20 minutes. It is important for everyone to focus on the fitness level to stay healthy.

Is it easy to keep fit where you live?

Yes, it’s quite easier for me to stay fit where I live, because there are several fitness centers and gymnasiums located within the vicinity of my area where many individuals and middle-aged people come to workout.

What do you think is more important, eating healthy or doing exercise?

In my opinion, eating a healthy diet and exercise are quite essential for long-term weight loss and overall health care. We need to balance both food and exercise for healthy living. Therefore, a person must eat healthily and exercise regularly to achieve long-lasting results.

The University of my Dreams would surely be the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Also previously known as Ingolstadt University. As the name itself suggests, this University is located in Munich, the capital of Bavaria State, Germany.

The chief allure for me is the region and language. You see, I spent a significant portion of my childhood in Germany. For me, there is nothing more beautiful than the German language and especially the culture that it promotes. And I am very lucky in that aspect; I can choose to enter the German taught or English taught courses as per my preferences.

Furthermore, this University specializes in the sciences. Besides being a science student myself, I know for a fact that few can compete with LMU’s excellence and education standards. Likewise, another draw to this University, in particular, is its previous alumni. Namely, the 42 Nobel laureates that graduated from this very Institution. Not to mention the fact that the grounds can be dated back to 1472, which is just fascinating to think about. I cannot even imagine walking the same hallowed halls as my idols!!

As for courses I am interested in, the “Bachelor of Sciences in Computer Sciences” sounds right up my alley. It is a three-year undergraduate degree course in Computer Science itself. In which I would learn about the fundamentals of computer science in theoretical, practical and application-oriented point of view.

Thus indeed, I do truly believe this University is the perfect choice for me. It is highly ranked with a significant international student ratio. Further, the faculty is world-renowned and the results truly do speak for themselves as well. With that in mind, it also helps that the school is state-funded, meaning it has ample opportunities for scholarships.

In the above, I have illustrated my reasons for believing LMU to be my dream university and the course I would want to avail.

Is higher education too expensive in your country?

I think that it is very costly to go into higher education in my country. Prices rose dramatically a few years ago, making it extremely difficult for most people to afford it. Tuition fees are largely funded by loans which need to be repaid over a working life time, but while spending thousands on education is worth every penny, it can, as a consequence, bring years of debt to a student and their family. In today’s society, no one is guaranteed to get a good job straight after university, so these course fee debts often continue to follow them around for life.

What advantages do universities bring to society?

I think that there are many positive things that universities or further education colleges can offer communities and neighbourhoods around them. They bring students into the area for one, which means housing will be in demand. They will spend money on food, go out to eat and socialise and invest in books (new as well as second-hand) for their course, making the town or city a buzzing hub of student life. The students themselves benefit from having a high level of education, which can then be translated into skills in the workplace, keeping society progressing and the economy profitable with their increased skills and knowledge.

Which is more important, research or teaching?

This is an interesting debate which has come to the fore as the tuition fees for University are so high and students are demanding high-quality contact time.  I think that for those students or potential Professors who undertake research, there is the need to complete a Master’s degree or a PhD. This can develop a further understanding of a subject and allow graduates to develop their research skills. Many people who complete these higher levels of education, also teach at University or College as a way of sharing their knowledge and gaining respect from their peers. It is not really possible to teach at that level without undertaking some sort of extensive research.
