IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO

What is your full name?

My name is Farida Gwari.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Farida.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here you go.

Are you interested in robots? /Do you like robots?

Yes, absolutely! Robotics engineering is a field I take a keen interest in. I have actually subscribed to a journal entirely dedicated to robots called “The Robot Workshop”. The other day I read a really interesting article about how robots can be used to perform surgeries.

IELTS Speaking Interview

Do you like robots to work at your home?

I think that’s a brilliant idea. I’m quite lazy, so household chores like cleaning or cooking are a real hassle. I would prefer to have those done by a robot. Actually, we have a robotic vacuum cleaner at our house. It’s truly a life-saver.

Do you want to take a car which robot is the driver?

Well you know nowadays, self-driving cars are certainly not a strange topic anymore. A.I. has gotten more sophisticated, and it’s more than capable of navigating addresses and controlling a vehicle. However, I will say I don’t really feel comfortable letting robots take the wheel. I think they are not 100 percent reliable, and may not handle dangerous situations like a slippery road as well as a human driver does. So for now I still prefer to drive manually.

Will robots replace human beings in the workplace completely?

Well, these days human labor is being marginalized by automation in the workplace, especially in manufacturing. Labor-intensive tasks can be done by machines with ease and precision. However, there are always things that require the delicate touch of a human hand. For example, a hand-made shirt always has more soul than a machine-made one.

SAMPLE ANSWER

IELTS Speaking Interview

Well, it is difficult to find those people who are good at mental mathematics because a vast majority of individuals are using electronic calculators to do calculations.

Here I would like to talk about one such incident when I was in great trouble as I could not handle the calculation because I was not using a calculator.

I clearly remember it was the time when I was in 10th standard, my school management authorities organized scholarship tests since I was among the top performers in the classroom, so I was overconfident and did not practice much or even read the instructions for the test.

Actually, I was in the habit of using a calculator from class 8th onwards, and I was very poor at mental mathematics as I found this task a hard nut to crack.

I was having a very tough time because every time I was solving these questions, it took me a long time to solve, and still, I could not get the correct answers because my answers did not match the given options as most questions were MCQ based.

I was not left with much time to complete. As a result, I could have scored better in the test. In contrast, my friends who had learnt the tips and tricks and practiced mental mathematics were able to perform far better than me.

Overall, it was more like a lesson for me not to be totally dependent on machines all the time, which is why I joined some sessions afterwards to improve my mental math skills.

How often do you make calculations?

For most tasks, whether they are trivial or colossal, I make calculations. And it starts when I wake up in the morning by planning my day and calculating the leisure time at my disposal for fun-related activities.

What instruments do you use to make calculations?

I prefer to make simple calculations myself; however, to make complex calculations, I use a calculator, and when the date is enormous, I like to use Microsoft Excel on my computer.

Is the significance of manual calculations declining?

In the modern era, many gadgets are at our disposal to make calculations. In such a scenario, the trend of making manual calculations is declining.
