IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO

What is your name?

My name is Rekha Shakira.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Rekha.

May I see your identification?

Sure, here it is.

Are you a social person?

Very much so! I feel that I thrive on (survive) social interactions. I like a small amount of time to myself each day, but I feel most charged when I spend time with others. I prefer to spend my free time with friends or family rather than being in my room reading a book, for instance.

Do you use social networking sites?

Yes, social networking websites have become part of my everyday life. My favourite one is Facebook, one of the most popular websites in the world, with millions of users in different countries.

What kind of people do you like to be friends with on those websites?

All kinds! I am friends with a wide range of people from my school years, family members, and friends I’ve recently met. I’m even friends with people who I’ve never even met before.

Do you like to use Facebook?

Yes, I love it! This social networking website allows me to keep in contact with my friends and find people you’ve lost touch with.

How did you first find out about Facebook?

As far as I remember, one of my friends sent me an email inviting me to join Facebook. I signed up and I’ve been using it ever since.

Will you use these sites more in the future?

Well, I’m trying to refrain myself from these sites, as I find myself quite addicted to entertaining contents on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. and squandering too much time on them. So I’d say I’m about to make a change and make less use of such online networking platforms.

PART – 2 CUE CARD

Describe an introvert person.

You should say:

– Who the person is?

– How well do you know him/her?

– What makes him/her introverted?

And explain how you feel about this person?

SAMPLE ANSWER

Well, every person is born with or develops a unique personality or nature, and there are many who are introvert.

Here, I am going to talk about my friend Jas who has an extremely reserved nature. He is my neighbor as well as my classmate, and I have never seen him talking freely and comfortably either in a neighborhood or at the school. Not only Jass, but his entire family is also a bunch of introverts. As our community often organizes meetings and celebrations, his family never shows their presence. At school, also Jass has very few friends, and his talks are often to the point.

He never expresses his feelings or shares emotions with me, no matter how big his problem is. Another reason for his reserved nature is his obsession with technology; as he spends hours playing computer games and surfing the Internet rather than interacting with humans, he remains virtually connected with others. Although his reserved nature keeps him focused as he doesn’t get distracted with talks while studying, this is perhaps the reason why he gets better grades than me and others, yet I recommend him to open up a little and be an extrovert.

The fact is that human is a social animal, and without expressing our feelings and emotions, we can not develop strong bonding with others. I certainly believe my friend will surely act upon my advice, and slowly & steadily, he will become an extrovert or give up his introverted nature.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

What kind of people are introverts?

Introverts are defined as individuals who struggle with expressing themselves and who have difficulty in communicating in front of others. They may lack confidence in many areas and may lack the necessary skills to succeed in those areas. Extroverts, on the other hand, have no such problems and are comfortable voicing their opinions on any topic.

Is the number of introverts on an incline?

The frequency of introverts has steadily increased alongside the spread of modern communications technology. A significant decrease in essential in-person interactions has resulted from the widespread usage of cell phones and other electronic devices. As a result, a lot of people choose to stay at home and avoid interacting with others.

Is it necessary to be outspoken?

Being outspoken can be a positive thing. It’s not a good idea to always be outspoken; rather, one must share opinions very publicly when it’s necessary to do so. However, there are times when it’s important to keep quiet and let events unfold without saying anything.

What kind of people are easy to get along with?

People who like to talk a lot or who are skilled communicators are easy to get along with. They talk about different things, crack jokes, make fun, and make the tone of the occasion very light. It is always good to interact with sociable people who are interested in what’s going on around them and who are capable of communicating their minds and emotions.
