IELTS SPEAKING INTERVIEW

PART – 1 INTRO

What is your full name?

My full name is Farida Shah.

How may I address you?

You may address me as Farida.

May I see your ID?

Sure, here it is.

Are there plenty of advertisements in your country?

Certainly, there are. The roadside is lined with large banners and posters for advertising. Furthermore, many advertisements are shown during television programmes, and there are numerous radio advertisements. Indeed, online advertisements are popular in my nation.

IELTS Speaking Interview

Why do you think there are so many advertisements coming nowadays?

I believe that in today’s period of fierce competition, businesses launch new items on a daily basis in order to increase profits and maintain a competitive edge. As a result, firms are promoting their products more and more in order to remain profitable and competitive. Consequently, there are currently numerous commercials.

What are the different places where we often see advertisements?

There’s nowhere left where we cannot see advertisements. We can see advertisements everywhere, such as on the internet like websites, and social media. Newspapers and magazines also contain a great deal of advertising, and we can also see advertisements on television, radio, and billboards.

IELTS Speaking Interview

How do you feel about advertisements?

Honestly, ads have both benefits and drawbacks. From a positive perspective, advertisements not only provide information about a new product but also explain its operation. Before buying, individuals are able to compare the quality of several products. On the other hand, some companies mislead consumers by displaying qualifications that do not exist in the product.

What kind of advertisement do you like or prefer the most?

Well, I like commercials for fashion and technology equipment since I am inclined towards trends, and companies’ debut new styles and equipment daily. Therefore, these advertisements always offer something new.

Do advertisements influence your decision or choice of product?

Yes, it does. Before making a purchase, I see advertisements for similar products from other companies and read customer reviews of the product.

IELTS Speaking Interview

Have you ever bought something after seeing its advertisements?

Yes, I bought a cell phone after seeing its commercial online. The advertisement was crystal clear, in the sense that everything was defined in great detail.

What are the main differences between advertisements on television and those in magazines?

Well, television ads are in the form of video, but ads are printed in magazines. Many individuals, especially young ones, prefer to watch advertisements on television than read them in magazines and newspapers. People can easily comprehend the item’s manufacturing, but sometimes magazine advertisements fail to convey the product’s functionality.

Are you interested in watching TV ads (advertisements) or advertisements from the internet?

Internet advertisements are more appealing to me than television. I rarely watch television, thus the majority of advertisements I see are online while watching YouTube videos or visiting other websites.

IELTS Speaking Interview

What kinds of advertisements do you dislike or not interested in?

Actually, I despise some intrusive advertisements, since I believe that we are inundated with advertisements today. I notice these annoying advertisements on my social media feeds, internet pop-ups, and junk mail. When I have to close or delete them, they are a mere waste of my time.

Do you share advertisements with others like family, friends, etc?

Yes, I share advertisement videos or blog posts with my friends and family, as they prefer watching advertisements and learning about new trends and features.

IELTS Speaking Interview

Do you want to work in an advertising agency in the future?

I would not say anything as it is not something that I am interested in. Therefore, I should do something that I am good at, such as working as a computer engineer. Furthermore, given the declining cost of advertising, even if I were interested in it, I would not pursue it in the future.

What kind of advertisements would you like to watch?

Well, I do not actively seek out advertisements. However, most of the ones I see on videos I watch are for clothing or books, as these are my most common internet purchases. The internet then displays advertisements depending on my browsing history.

Do you like it when actors or celebrities advertise products?

Actually, I do not agree. I believe celebrity endorsements devalue the celebrity and insult the intelligence of the audience. It is very evident that the celebrity is merely endorsing the product to earn a large sum of money, and frankly, even if he or she uses the product, it does not indicate that it is right for me or will make me more like the celebrity.

IELTS Speaking Interview

What do you think or understand the purpose of advertising?

First and foremost, businesses would be keen to inform their customers about forthcoming products. This is the primary objective of advertising; nevertheless, they also provide quality-related information within the commercial itself in order to acquire clients’ trust.

Since the dawn of civilization, men and women have been applying perfumes, essential oils and colognes. As different individuals have diverse choices when it comes to food, clothes, opinions, similar is the case with perfumes. It is said that an individual’s fragrance plays a crucial part in his/her identity and is used as a symbol of an evolved and refined society. My all-time favorite cologne is Bloom by Gucci mainly because I prefer my fragrance to be sweet and fresh rather than strong because of my perfume intolerance to bold fragrances. One gets the full force of the white flower bouquet with a tint of coolness after applying it.

As Gucci Bloom is an exotic and expensive perfumes, I don’t wear it on a regular basis. I don’t like to spend a fortune for just a perfume, so for everyday use, I go with Victoria Secret’s mist collection as they aren’t that heavy on the pocket. More importantly they last long even during humid weather conditions of my country.

Fragrance is like an accessory and many people even today are unaware of its benefits. Perfumes tend to relieve stress, it is also used to make a statement and show our unique personality. Perfumes evokes memories as well when a particular fragrance or a signature scent reminds us of someone. Depending on one’s personal taste, you can choose from the variety of colognes available in the market like fruity, musky, floral or oriental.

Personally, I think no one would want to smell foul and sit beside someone with an unpleasant odor. To be socially acceptable, apart from staying hygienic and clean, people wear colognes when they step out of their houses. As perfume also build self-confidence, we wear it to complete our outfit and to be more attractive especially for important occasions.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Have you received perfume as a gift?

Most people are aware that I love perfume. So, I frequently receive perfumes as gifts on many occasions. My close friends usually know my preference and give it to me accordingly. I love receiving perfumes from my close associates but there are many others who just pick up any perfume when they are buying it as a gift.

These perfumes are mostly those that I don’t use and I hate to pass them on to others as I know I will leave the same impression. I urge people to put some thought while giving perfume to someone and it would be best to not give it if one is unsure about the smell the other would prefer.

IELTS Speaking Interview

Do you give perfume as a gift?

Perfume is considered a very classy gift by most people. It’s a kind of gift which you can give someone on almost all kinds of occasions like birthdays, housewarming, anniversaries, office events and others. It’s an easy pick while thinking of a gift but usually most people have specific taste when it comes to perfumes.

Most people use a specific smell indicative of their personality and mostly the vibe varies from person to person. So, mostly when I’m picking up perfume to give someone, I either know the person close enough to know the perfumes they use or the smell they prefer, or I give a very exquisite pleasant smell which is considered a hidden gem. I avoid giving perfumes to people who I know have a history of allergy, as perfumes can cause intense reactions at times.
