Some people think that students in high and secondary schools can choose courses freely. While, others think that courses such as mathematics must be compulsory. Discuss both view and give you opinion.
SAMPLE ANSWER
It is an ongoing debate on whether scholars in high or secondary schools are able to opt course as per their interest or certain courses namely: mathematics must be learnt by them. While, I will explicate not only both perspectives but also my viewpoint in the subsequent segments.
Commencing with first assertion, there some obvious reasons that why students should be freed to choose the subjects in which they are interested. The predominant reason is having a great deal of interest in favorite subject can leads to greater performance in marks which further can be worthwhile in the long term thereby looking for better working opportunities in the future.
For instance, if a student studies in particular subject either history or related to art and craft such as painting thoroughly then he or she can acquire that one as a profession in the future. Which can only be possible while allowing them to select their own courses, developing motivation and engagement in them as they will be capable to learn something that they are passionate about.
When it comes to studying mathematics as a compulsory, it is considered to be the foundation of education because it provides knowledge and skills to students to think logically, analytically and so on. Moreover, it is used in every field ranging from science, technology and engineering, making scholars able to have solid understanding of it. Furthermore, mathematic can assist students in problem solving which can be beneficial for them in the long run.
In conclusion, albeit, allowing student to choose their favorite subjects can aid them better productivity in studies and in their future yet I opine that mathematics must be mandatory to be learnt as well.
