The percentage of overweight children in western society has increased by almost 20% in the last ten years. Discuss the possible causes and effects of this trend and offer a solution.
SAMPLE ANSWER
There is no doubt that overweight in children has consistently grown in western countries over the last 10 years by almost 20%, this essay will discuss causes and effects of this trend including processed food, changes in children habits, and will offer a solution to improve heath in children.
The principal problem in today’s health issues specially in children is processed food, most of our infants are being feed with saturated fats, sugar and chemicals that were introduced in many types of food such as dairy, processed meat and even baked products like bread and biscuits, this large amount of ingredients that harm our bodies and make them addicted to it are being added by companies that do not care about our children health, and they are not even checked by our families when it comes to buy groceries.
Additionally, there was a big change in our kids habits, for instance, they are staying in playing video games, being on social media like tik-tok, Instagram, snapchat in their tablets instead of playing outdors with other children, socialising and making friends like we used to do, technology has a big part in this habits being changed as well as adults getting dragged by this trends.
Solutions to this issues are strong government laws that stop processed food to be exaggerated and a plan to parents where they know healthy habits to share with their children like screen time on their devices or proper food balance on toddlers so they do not become addicted to processed foods.
All in all, this changes that our children adopted, things like processed food and unhealthy habits have impacted their life specially their weight, but there is some light on those problems that can be solved through strict laws given by the government on processed foods.
