Describe a time when you had a problem shopping online

You can say:

– when it happened

– what online service you were using

– what the problem was

– and say if you solved the problem or not

SAMPLE ANSWER

I remember a time when I had a problem shopping online. It was a few months ago when I was trying to buy a new laptop from a popular online retailer. I had used this retailer before and had never had any issues, so I was confident that the transaction would be smooth.

However, when I entered my payment details, I received an error message saying that the transaction could not be processed. I tried again with the same result. I was frustrated and worried that my payment details had been compromised.

I immediately contacted the customer service department of the online retailer and explained the issue. The representative I spoke with was friendly and helpful, but she couldn’t explain why the transaction was failing. She suggested that I try a different payment method or contact my bank to see if there was an issue with my account.

I followed her advice and contacted my bank, but they said that everything was in order on their end. I tried again to make the purchase with a different payment method, but I still received the same error message.

In the end, I had to abandon the purchase and look for another retailer to buy the laptop from. Although it was a frustrating experience, I appreciated the efforts of the customer service representative to help me resolve the issue. I also learned that it’s important to have a backup plan when shopping online and to always double-check your payment details before making a purchase.

PART – 3 FOLLOW UPS

Why do some people choose to do their shopping in a street market rather than the shopping mall?

There are several reasons for this. Firstly, street markets often offer a unique and vibrant atmosphere that cannot be replicated in a shopping mall. For instance, I recall visiting a street market during a vacation in Thailand. The lively atmosphere, with colourful stalls, fragrant food vendors, and traditional music, created an immersive cultural experience that I couldn’t find in a shopping mall.

Plus, street markets are known for their wide variety of fresh and locally sourced products. During my visit to a street market in my hometown, I was able to buy freshly harvested fruits and vegetables directly from local farmers, ensuring their quality and supporting the local economy.

Do you think that discounted goods have good value?

Discounted goods can offer good value depending on the circumstances. From my personal experience, I have found discounted goods to provide excellent value in certain situations. For instance, last year I needed to purchase a new winter coat. I came across a discounted sale at a reputable clothing store, where I found a high-quality coat at a significantly reduced price. The coat was of good value as it was durable, stylish, and provided excellent warmth during the winter season. However, it is important for consumers to exercise caution and consider factors such as the original price, quality, and their specific needs when assessing the value of discounted items.

How often do people in your country go shopping?

The frequency of shopping varies among individuals in my country. While there is no definitive answer, it is common for people to engage in shopping activities at least once or twice a week. Personally, I usually go shopping once a week for groceries and household necessities. However, I have friends who prefer to shop more frequently, especially for fashion items or to take advantage of special promotions and sales.
